Deadline for .wales and .cymru trademark registrations approaches

Businesses that hold a trademark and wish to appeal to customers in Wales, or want to be identified as having a Welsh heritage, need to register with the Trademark Clearinghouse before the 31 July to ensure the best possible chance of securing their .wales or .cymru domain names.

Businesses that do this will be able to register their new domains during a ‘sunrise period’ likely to begin in the early autumn before the first come, first served phase that starts in January. They will also be able to find out if somebody else has registered for a domain using their trademarks.

Non-trademark holders are still able to register their interest, but will not be eligible for early registration.
