Portmeirion decided to switch to the .cymru domain to strengthen their identity as a Welsh company;
“Our website is central to our sales and marketing strategy and we feel that the .cymru domain will help sustain our search engine ranking. It will also help to strengthen our online identity and show that we are not only located in Wales but are also committed to supporting the country’s culture, environment and produce.”
Robin Llewelyn, Managing Director of Portmeirion
Built by Sir Clough Williams-Ellis between 1925 and 1976, Portmeirion is a village resort on its own private peninsula in North West Wales and was originally built to demonstrate his ideas about sustainable development. Its focal point is the Hotel Portmeirion on the resort’s quayside and the village is made up of colourful cottages that are let as hotel suites and self-catering apartments. The village boasts shops, restaurants, cafes and a gelateria where Italian style ice cream is made every day.
Portmeirion hosts several events throughout the year including Festival No.6 (5-7 September) and an annual Food Fair (6 -7 December) and is one of Wales’ top attractions, welcoming 200,000 visitors annually.
